Already serving the industrial needs of the area with pre-mixed concrete, in 1998 Fournier Béton began bulk delivery of the product to the various mining companies in the Abitibi region. In that same year Béton Fournier Inc. obtained ISO-9002 Certification, a highly desired industrial products rating.

One of a number of high quality concrete products provided to the mining industry, shotcrete has become a widely utilized product for underground ground control needs, in areas such as drifts and ramps, ore passes, support pillars and the like. Research and development:

"Gatorpass" is a high performance variety of shotcrete particularly useful in maintaining wall support in ore passes, hence the name.

This product was developed in response to the industry’s need for a reasonably-priced product that would hold up to the rugged demands that ore passes make.

Developed in joint research with the Department of Engineering at Laval University, Gatorpass proved equal to the task, surpassing the performance of similar products at a fraction of the cost.

Mining companies- as well as other industries- have shown considerable interest in the high performance standards met by Gatorpass, and in fact a number of the larger mines in the region have adopted the product, replacing other high quality ground control products of the sort.

Gatorpass represents a major breakthrough in terms of the quality-cost ratio in mining; it can similarly meet the needs of forward looking companies in other industries as well.
